The primary focus of our agency when not in a response or recovery mode is to ensure that Medina County, and the more than 150,000 citizens residing in it, are prepared to respond and react to an emergency or disaster and to lead mitigation efforts against the potential of future disasters.
All communities regardless of location are vulnerable to a variety of hazard
The effectiveness of Emergency Management rests on a network of relationships among their partners in the system.
The 5 phases of Emergency Management are: Mitigation Preparedness Response Recovery and Homeland Security We serve Medina County in all 5 phases
We are constantly updating and improving our Emergency Operations Plan or (EOP). The EOP has been adopted by all 27 jurisdictions within Medina County as well as our Medina County Commissioners. This plan allows Medina County, and the cities, villages and townships to apply for "Mitigation Funding" for special projects should a Presidential Declared Disaster occur. This funding is a percentage of the total declared disaster dollars and aids in the prevention of future losses.
We work closely with the State of Ohio in reviewing and making changes to our "All Hazards and Mitigation Plan".
